Kind News
Kindness Works International, (KWI) is bringing you good news on the power of Kindness being used to bring about change in our communities.
Our Vision and Mission Statement can be Summed up by the following and upon which the Kindness Pays Rewards Program is built upon.
"Kindness and caring cannot be reserved only for our families and friends. Otherwise, society will not change at all. Strangers must approach strangers, we need to reach out to all others, not merely those like us. If we could get everyone to perform a few acts of kindness each day, we could change the world.” Dr. Brian Weiss.
Unfortunately, the reality today is that it seems there is much that divide us and we struggle to find agreement on anything. However, there's one thing that we all can agree with, “The World becomes a better place when people are more KIND to one another.” That's our singular mission, to teach and encourage people to be kind to others.
Kindness Is A Skill That Can Be Learned:
Why Kindness Matters Most, Written by Robyn Spizman
Why Kindness Matters Most, Written by Robyn Spizman
Instead of being the coolest kid in the room, how about being the kindest? Once a child understands the importance of their actions, good deeds, and the joy of helping others, kindness becomes fun and is highly contagious.
What’s wonderful about kindness is that it is a skill that can be learned. As an art teacher, I taught creativity and inspired children to understand an array of materials, techniques, and aesthetic ideas that produced endless beautiful possibilities. All they had to do was add their imaginations.
Teaching kids to be kind is like developing the proficiency to create a priceless work of art. Children have many opportunities to learn kindness from you. You are their very first teacher. Kindness is a learned response that makes the world, and their world, a brighter place. Parents who make considering other people’s feelings a priority can attest to how these actions are modeled by their children. When you make engaging in kindness a part of your daily life, children are more likely to follow suit and truly enjoy being nice. Click to read entire article.

One last comment. Ellen didn't have to defend what she did and doesn't need to validate her life. She took the opportunity to speak out to advance the importance of being kind to everyone, which she has been doing for years. Her beauty within comes from her spirit of Kindness that forms the core of her spiritual being. Just look at her smile on the left, her comfortable spirit of Kindness shines through. Ellen, may all your days be fille with Kindness!

He also bought a Harley Davidson for every person in the stunt crew. How many people do you think would do that?

SEVERN, Maryland (CNN)- Manager, Daryl Howard, at a Maryland Chick-Fil-A, was quick to help when he saw a customer needed more than his usual chicken biscuit and coffee.
Daryl Howard was taking orders Thursday morning at the restaurant in Severn when a 96-year-old WWII veteran, known to employees as Mr. Lee, came to the register and said he had a flat tire.
"He was shaking, almost in tears saying he barely made it to the store on three tires because one was bad," Rudy Somoza, another manager, told CNN.
Lee barely made it the restaurant driving with a flat tire and was able to park in the Chick-Fli-A parking lot, but had no one to help him change his tire. When Daryl was finished serving his customer he told Somoza he needed to help this gentlemen change his tire. "So, Daryl jumped into action without hesitation."
It took Howard about 15 minutes to change the tire. He didn't know that Somoza was taking pictures until later. Somoza said he's worked with Howard about five years.
"His action of kindness was beautiful. Daryl has always been so helpful to anyone in need and deserves this recognition," Somoza said. Lee came back Friday and was very thankful and had his usual Chicken Biscuit and coffee.
Kindness Works International is sending a check to Daryl Howard for $50.00 to recognizie and Reward his act of Kindness. Our compliment to Chick-Fil-A for having kind employees like Daryl Howard who saw a need acted on it. Daryl, may all your days be filled with Kindness.

Three New York Police Officers July 4th Act of Kindness
Three NYPD officers Lt Sojo, Officer Rivera, and Office Cuevas, were at a Manhattan Whole Foods on July 4th when Whole Foods employees called the police about a shoplifting incident. The officers at the store for lunch responded. They found the woman being detained by security with a bag of food she didn't pay for. In a spontaneous moment the officera responded not with force, but with Kindness.
The Officers story. Officer Esnaidy Cuevas said, “We looked in her bag and saw containers of food, we didn’t see anything else, it was just necessity food.” Lt. Louis Sojo said, “I asked her, ‘What’s going on?’ She told me she was hungry,” We decided that ‘We’ll pay the $35 for the food instead of arresting her. The officers went to the check out with the women and paid for the food. " When you look at someone’s face and you notice that they need you, they're actually hungry, it’s pretty difficult as a human being to walk away from something like that— we weren’t raised like that, it’s the right thing to do,” Sojo said.

We agree and as part of "Kindness Pays Rewards Program", KWI is sending a check to these police officers to reimburse them for the food they purchased and sending them three decks of Kind Cards. At a time when police are quick to be criticized, KWI thinks officers like these should be recognized, praised and rewarded for their kind acts. Kindness is contagious and will be passed on, evidenced by their kind act received from the community!
Kindness Works was honoring the above three NYPD Police Officers today for their Act of Kindness in a Whole Food store in New York and discovered that Officer Mulkeen was killed this weekend. We felt it was important to honor officer Mulkeen as well. In the process of doing that, we also noticed that another police office was killed the same day as officer Mulkeen. Deputy Sandeep Dhaliwal, an observant Sikh was killed the same day in Houston Texas. This just goes to show you how dangerous is to be a police officer. Lt. Louis Sojo, Officer Cuevas and Officer Rivera, may all your days be filled with Kindness.

Act of Kindness at Waffle House
A Kindness Story
A Waffle House customer contacted us regarding the service they receive by a waitress name Ms. Merit Yousself in a Waffle House in Duluth, GA. A customer named Kevan went to have breakfast at a restaurant with his elderly brother. On their way into the Waffle House his Brother picked up a pamphlet about working at Waffle and was reading it at the table. Ms. Youssef went up to the table and said good morning seeing the brother reading the Pamphlet, said with a big simile asking the brother, "are you going to apply for a job here, we would love to have you. Kevan said they all had a big laugh and were impressed with the service, friendliness and Kindness of their waitress. They commented amongst themselves that she was one of the best waitress that ever waited on them. Little did Ms. Youssef realize was that Kevan was Director of Kindness Works, whose emphasis was to promote, encourage and reward Acts of Kindness and that’s exactly what Kevan did. He had a letter sent to the President of Waffle house, Mr. Walt Ehmer, telling the story. The letter included a certificate of Kindness, with some Kind Cards, and a $50.00 check made out to Ms. Youssef.
Mr. Ehmer responded with personal hand written note to Kindness Works saying the following: "Thank you for the package you sent to our server Merit Youssef, for our store # 730 in Duluth, Georgia. Act of Kindness by Walmart Employee Nick Tate.
Another Walmart Act of Kindness story of a Walmart cashier in Newcastle, Oklahoma. Nick Tate, the Walmart Employee, paid the bill of a woman, with children, whose credit card wouldn't clear. Kindness Works learned of this when someone reported this Act of Kindness to us. The video is still shot with a Robotic Voice and it was criticized by some viewers because of that. We e called the Walmart Supercenter in Newcastle and spoke to a manager by the name of Kelly, and she confirmed the story was true. We informed Kelly that Kindness Works International Foundation has a Kindness Pays Rewards program that recognizes and rewards Acts of Kindness and would be sending a check made out to Nick for $50.00 and some kind cards as well. Kelly told us that they would get the check and kind cards to Nick.
We also Wrote the President of Walmart Mr. Doug McMcMillion to inform him of Nicks Act of Kindness and told him we were recognizing his Acts of Kindness by issuing him a certificate of Kindness. Walmart worte us back and said the following: "
Thank you for reaching out to Doug McMillion who's your kind words about Nicholas Tate and Walmart. Doug asked that I respond on his behalf.
I reached out to the manager of store #1056, Barry Barger. Regrettably, Nick is no longer an associate at Walmart. I will forward the items and certificate of recognition for nick to Mr. Barger, and he has agreed to get them to Nick. Walmart does not allow associates to keep gratuities. Since Nick was an associate at the time of his act of kindness per our ethics policy, we must return the $50 check.
Again, thank you writing; and best wishes as you continue to recognize and reward Acts of Kindness

Kindness to a Man in a Wheel ChairI was with my mom as she was shopping. I saw this man sitting in a wheelchair out front attempting to unlock the break on his wheel chair. I walked over and unlocked the brake and push it to a bench that was nearby and sat down and had a nice talk with him. When my mom came looking for me, the man thanked me so much for taking time to speak to him. He said often times many just walk by and say nothing , that I had made his day with just spending a little time to share small talk. Mike James, Pittsburgh, Pa.

Breaking Bread
Last December, before work, I stopped at a deli and ordered an everything bagel with cream cheese. It was toasty warm, and I couldn’t wait to dig in. But as I left the store, I noticed an older homeless gentleman sitting on a bench with a banket around hime. Knowing it would probably be his only warm meal of the day, I gave him the bagel. But all was not lost for me. Another customer from the deli offered me half of her bagel. I was so delighted because I realized at time we can be our brothers keeper. – Tony Figueroa, Phoenix, Arizona |
A Helping HandWhile living in Illinois my friend and I would often drive to downtown Chicago to visit our other friends We oftened noticed a couple of Homeless people sitting on stoops on the sidewalks. We made it a point to always get them a cup of coffee, a bottle of water or something to eat. The smiles on their faces and thank you made it worth more than the money we spent.
